How to Complete Your SMS Verification

When you sign up for a Professional or Enterprise plan, SMS review requests require a one-time toll-free number verification through Twilio. This is a carrier requirement — it ensures your customers only receive messages they’ve consented to. This guide walks you through the entire process.

What You’ll Need Before You Start

Have the following information ready before you open the verification form:

  • Your business legal name — exactly as registered with the IRS
  • Your EIN — Federal Tax ID number
  • Your business address — street, city, state, zip
  • Your business website URL
  • Your privacy policy URL — must be publicly accessible (see Section 3 below)
  • Your opt-in page URL — see Section 2 below

How to Find Your Opt-In Page URL

This is the most important step. Your opt-in page URL is proof that your customers have consented to receive SMS messages from your business. Here’s how to find it:

  1. In your ReviewCatalyst dashboard, go to Campaigns → Request Reviews
  2. Find your campaign and click Opt-in Page
  3. In the popup, click Preview Live Form
  4. Copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar
  5. Save this URL — you’ll paste it into the verification form

Note: You must have at least one active Review Request campaign before completing this step. If you haven’t set one up yet, do that first.

Privacy Policy Requirements

Your privacy policy must be publicly accessible and must cover the following before you submit. Twilio reviewers will check it:

  • A statement that you collect phone numbers and use them to send SMS messages
  • A statement that mobile opt-in data and phone numbers will never be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes
  • How customers can opt out of receiving messages
  • How customers can contact you with privacy questions

Here is an example of compliant mobile data language. This is illustrative only — consult your own legal counsel for advice specific to your business:

“We collect your phone number to send you service-related text messages. Your mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.”

If your privacy policy does not include language like this, Twilio will likely reject your verification. Update your policy BEFORE submitting the form.

Completing the Verification Form

Once you have everything ready, click the verification link sent to your email when you signed up. You’ll see a secure form powered by Twilio. Fill in each field using the information from Sections 1–3. When asked for your opt-in page URL, paste the URL you copied in Section 2.

What Happens After You Submit

  • Your verification is sent to Twilio for review
  • Approval typically takes 1–3 business days
  • You’ll receive an email notification when your SMS is active
  • Once approved, your SMS review request campaigns will begin sending automatically

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I haven’t set up a campaign yet?

You need at least one active Review Request campaign before completing this step. Your campaign’s opt-in page URL is required as proof of consent. Set up your campaign first, then return to complete verification.

How do I know when I’m approved?

You’ll receive an email from ReviewCatalyst when your toll-free number has been approved and SMS is active on your account.

What if my verification is rejected?

The most common reasons for rejection are an incomplete privacy policy or an incorrect opt-in URL. Review the Privacy Policy Requirements and How to Find Your Opt-In Page URL sections of this article carefully, make any needed updates, and contact support@reviewcatalyst.net — we’ll help you identify the issue before resubmitting.

Can I use my existing website privacy policy?

Yes, as long as it includes the mobile data language described in the Privacy Policy Requirements section. If it doesn’t, add that language before submitting.
